In the afternoon we took a bus to Phayao. After 4,5h along a beautiful mountain scenery, we reached our destination and checked in in "Homestay Kwan Phayao Huanpak Jumjai". Phayao is the provincial capital and is located on the bank of Kwan Phayao, the largest lake in northern Thailand.
In the evening we strolled through a festival and have eaten delicious fish from the lake.
As our accommodation had bicycles included, we have used this and drove along the lake the next day. At Wat Si Khom Kham we have inserted a stop. There is a 16m high seated Buddha image and a "Heaven- Hell and Garden" with strange statures. As we sat at the lake, a boy came along and gave us a small turtle, we should release it in the lake. The release of a turtle stands for a long life. As a thank you we've given him a couple of candy bars.
